Updated as of July 28, 2021
The health and safety of our participants and guests is our first priority.
We will be requiring proof of vaccination for all guests over 12 years of age* to attend the Great Dickens Christmas Fair 2021, so please get vaccinated if you have not already done so.
*Children ages 2 - 11 who are currently unable to be vaccinated will be required to wear a mask except while seated for a meal or beverage.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and California Department of Public Health (CDPH) have outlined specific requirements and recommendations for large events such as The Great Dickens Christmas Fair. Note: The State will reassess conditions by September 1st, 2021 to determine whether updated requirements or recommendations are needed. Vaccination verification will be the minimum requirement for adult entry regardless of changes to State recommendations. Please check this page regularly. As conditions evolve, we will provide updates on our requirements and safety measures prior to tickets going on sale September 15, 2021.
Safe, free, and effective COVID-19 vaccines are now available to everyone age 12 and up so we encourage you to get vaccinated.
FAQs as of July 28, 2021
Will vaccinations be required to participate and attend the event?
Yes. Proof of vaccination will be required for all public and participant entry to the Fair venue along with a valid form of photo ID. Valid forms of identification include a state issued driver’s license, identity card, or passport.
What if the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) or Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) change their guidance for Venue Operators before the Fair opens on November 20, 2021?
Out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the maximum possible safety for our guests and our participants, the producers of the Dickens Christmas Fair will continue to require proof of vaccination for their 2021 season, regardless of any change in State guidelines.
What if I have infection-acquired immunity or am unable to obtain a COVID-19 vaccine due to age, health, religious, or other reasons?
In order to ensure the safety of our community we regret that you will not be able to attend the Fair this year. We hope to see you in 2022.
What is considered an acceptable proof of vaccination?
Before entry you will be required to show either your physical vaccination card or a photo of your card along with your photo ID. We recommend keeping a photo of your card on your phone for easy access.
If you were vaccinated in California you can get a copy of your proof of vaccination on the California Department of Public Health website. Follow the prompts. You will need to provide information, including 2-step identification using the phone number you used to register at the time of your vaccination.
What if I do not have an acceptable proof of vaccination when I arrive?
If you are having issues on the day you are planning to attend the fair, please go to Will Call for assistance (you must provide a government issued photo ID).
Will hand sanitizer be provided?
Hand sanitizer will be available at all booths, all eating establishments, at the Fair entrance, and throughout the event.
Will there be temperature checks?
Temperature checks are not required at this time, but management reserves the right to require temperature checks at any time.
Will there be a mask requirement?
Masks will continue to be recommended as an additional precaution for all patrons. Masks are required for children ages 2 through 11 at all times while moving around the Fair. The only exception to this is while seated for a meal or beverage.
Will there be increased cleaning and ventilation in the Dickens Fair venue?
Yes, the Cow Palace is increasing ventilation throughout the Fair venue. Special cleaning protocols will be in place for eating surfaces, theatre seats, bathrooms and elsewhere, with full-time facilities teams assigned specifically to Covid-19 safety.
Will social distancing be required at food booths, theatre seating, or in the streets?
No. As all adults attending and participating in the event will be vaccinated, and all children will be masked, no social distancing will be required.
Will attendance be limited?
Yes. Attendance will be capped and managed on a daily basis. All tickets must be purchased in advance for a specific Fair day. Tickets may be exchanged for another date based on availability. There will be no onsite box office; however, Will Call will be available for customer service.
